People are still not sorting their blogs properly, which can lead to instability in the databases. We've said it multiple times, and we're rehashing it again here. PLEASE pay attention. You need to choose only ONE category for your blog to go in. Just one. Please go and re-check your posted blogs to ensure they are following these settings. The categories are listed below-
1- Character Rules & Terms- "Rules to write with me. How to Roleplay With Me. What I expect in a writing partner."
2- Site Admin- If you are not Kaly, Zeth, or the Dev- you do not use this one. Period. This is for the SITE admins, as stated.
3- Page Admins- If you are posting for a page or group, you'd choose this one. Most times you'd want to log in as the page/group before posting so that those will stay locked to the page. This is for monthly sign-ins, characters needed, upcoming SLs, things of that nature that are posted for the group/page itself. Page Admin does NOT MEAN the profile page. It means a GROUP page.
4- Musings & Mumblings- Random items that DO NOT FIT anywhere else.
5- Biography/Backgrounds- Anything about your character, their backgrounds, their attributes, their families, how they got to where they are at now, their past.
6- Writing- Posts and storylines.
Blog tags have been coded to the top of the blog instead of the bottom. This makes it easier to see content warnings as well as what each post is about, what verse its in, who is involved, etc. A tutorial for how to use the blog tags effectively has been posted on the Writer's Corner.
In order to allow comments on a blog, you must set the permissions for comments to everyone or friends. To lock comments, set it to "only me" as who can comment. If you set the permissions to friends, only people who are on your friends list will be able to comment on it.
For tips & tricks with formatting text in blogs, you can check out this helpful tutorial on the Writer's Corner.
Page blogs are visible to members only, or admins only, depending on how you set the original page permissions. If a page admin posts a blog as themselves, only that admin can edit it. However, if they log in as the page, any admin can log in as the page and edit it. Please note if you want to post blogs as the page, page permissions must allow members to set blogs, not just admins.
Privacy for blogs is pretty straightforward. You can choose for all members of the site to see by clicking Everyone. Just your friends, friends of friends, or use the custom friends list function to create a special list of users to see a certain blog. You can learn more about setting custom friend lists here.
Profile blogs are sorted into your main profile feed in chronological order. The profile menu on the left hand side shows you how many blogs and drafts you have. However, please note, ONLY blogs set to EVERYONE can view will actually show up here. The rest will still be on your profile and searchable, but won't show in that particular menu.
You cannot tag someone in a blog itself. However you can tag people in the comments of the blog. Alternatively, a user has suggested using the "Attach a Link" option to link to the profile you want to tag, and says that it can send a notification to that user.
I have blogs on my profile but when I click "Blogs" it says I don't have any - The menu on the profile is for PUBLIC blogs. Your blog must be set to public visibility in order for it to show in that section, otherwise you would have to scroll down your page in order to find them.
My blog keeps getting sorted wrong - It's not wrong. We've asked that people choose ONE category where their blog fits the best, to reduce database issues. There are several categories, and SITE ADMIN is for only site admins. That is for site admin announcements or blogs like this one. No user should ever have blogs in that category. We also move them if it's "rules" and it's in the "bios" section, things like that.
