Privacy and account settings can be accessed from the upper right of the page. Click "Account" to access these.
Includes name, username, email address, password, language, and time zone. You do not have to set your time zone or username if you don't want to, those all will have default settings to start with. If you change your email, you will have to verify the new email before you can log back into your account, so do plan ahead for that.
Here is also where you close your account, by scrolling all the way down and hitting "Cancel Account". Be forewarned though, we do NOT disable accounts like Facebook does. Once you hit that button and confirm it, your account and all its content is immediately deleted from the active main server. Be sure that's what you want to do before leaving, because we can't retrieve that data.
Here you have your privacy settings for your profile itself, your posted items, notifications, and your blocked users. You can also set yourself as invisible here.
For your wall, read over each item carefully. Setting these too tight will make it so people can't see anything you post, or your profile. Decide a level of privacy that feels comfortable for you, but remember that if people can't see your things, you'll want to adjust those as you see fit.
The item settings are the default for anything you post on the site. To make things easier on you all around, set these all to "everyone". This way, you can then adjust privacy on a per item basis, instead of having everything automatically set to not allow people to view them.
Please leave ALL notifications set to "NO". The site automatically sends site notifications. That section is for email notifications, you will get thousands of emails, and we WILL be marked as spam. Currently some notifications, such as page invitations can't be turned off. We're looking into that, but this will cut down on most of them.
To unblock a user that you have previously blocked, go to Blocked Users and click the box by their name. Once you've gone through the list and clicked those you want to unblock, finish by saving the changes. Those users you selected will no longer be on your blocked user list.
Setting yourself as invisible makes it so your account doesn't show up in the members list as an active user based on your timestamps. It sets your last login at a date far in the past, so that your profile is at the bottom of the search results. This is useful if you prefer others not knowing when you're logged on at first so you can get writing and things done before messaging friends.
I changed my name/relationship and it isn't showing yet! - Due to slowing the site, changes to your profile will now take time to circulate through cache. We posted an announcement on the main page that everyone should see as its a big orange box, but many are still having issues with this. If you change your name or relationship status, it WILL TAKE longer to show. Do not panic, we have set it this way to keep the site running optimally. Once cache flushes, your changes will appear.
What names can we use here? - We don't care what your name is here. It's roleplay, go nuts. Please don't use emails, a bunch of numbers, something that confuses people into thinking you're staff here, or anything rude/hateful though. However, just a friendly staff note here. When signing up, or editing your account, you really should have some form of a last name. It isn't required, but as we grow, "unique" first names may not be so unique anymore, and finding each other without a last name or group acronym to separate us will become harder. So, if you would like to avoid the hassle, feel free to go ahead and edit your name field in your account settings.
It's telling me my name is more than 30 characters. - This is due to the special characters in the name. If your name is throwing errors and you've got funky characters in it, you'll need to settle with qwerty characters to function properly on the site or send a support ticket from the email associated with the account so we can find it by email, since we can't search with the non-qwerty characters.
My name isn't showing. - Our site is not set up for non-qwerty characters. It can use some of them, yes, but you're going to run into issues. A few we've noticed- Friends won't be able to search for you, unfortunately admin will find it hard as well if you need help. Your friends will also have trouble tagging you when they want to share a blog, post, or photo with you.
It won't let me change my name anymore? - Users are limited to 10 name changes and 10 username changes. It gets frustrating to people when names are constantly changing and they don't know who is who, and it mucks up the system as well. Due to this, we've set a generous limit so that people can change their names up to 10 times before the system won't allow them to change again.
